This blog exists to help locate information and audio for the forthcoming book DemoLition, a complete-as-possible guide to all known heavy metal and hard rock demos released in the 1980s, tentatively scheduled for a 2020 release.
The great Lockjaw blog posted two Agatha Bones demos, but still need the lineups and years.
ReplyDeleteLine up on the first demo(1984/85 circa, they were from the Detroit area):
ReplyDeleteJerry Smith - Drums
Billy Bones - Vocals/Bass
Mike Seabrook - Guitar
Note that Billy Bones said that later, after the split up another band from Hamburg(Michigan)stole/used the name without permission and recorded the socalled second demo(it seems in 1991),this was the line up:
Chris Coven - Guitar, Vocals
Bobby Strong - Rhythm Guitar, Backing Vocals
Daven Scott - Bass, Backing Vocals
Michael "Ragin" Storm - Drums, Backing Vocals
here is a flyer/ad of the "first" Agatha Bones with some other band from 1984:

Billy Bones is my father. Does anyone know where I can find that demo online? We used to have a copy of it, but it's lost. So now I'm just hoping it's online somewhere.
DeleteJoseph, I used to have a cassette copy, but it disappeared long ago. If your dad remembers who recorded it, they might have the master tapes, which can be transferred to digital now.
DeleteJerry/Bill/Mike was the lineup on the "Burn The Witch" album, which you're referring to as the second demo. I don't know who's on that first one. I knew Jerry, the drummer.
DeleteThe Anonymous submission is correct. We actually recorded "Burn the Witch" in the mid 80's. I don't know who put all the fact and dates together but they were wrong. The second band (which looks like they'd be first) were a bunch of clowns riding our coat tails from Hamburg, MI. I got some nonsensical story from the bass player Daven Scott (Dwayne Mullet) about how their promoter or something said they "had to use the name", which is a total crock and like I said...nonsensical. We broke the band in 1991 and each moved in different directions. AB was formed in 1983 with a completely different line up except for me and Jerry.
DeleteI suspect whoever got all the info assbackward is the same person who put us on youtube without permission. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ix02_Ow4GY4
DeleteGet them
DeleteWow, that's funny. They do sound like two different bands.
ReplyDeleteI use to hang with these guys in the early 90s
ReplyDeleteI don't know who those guys listed in the "2nd" band are, but I did know the 3 piece Agatha Bones when they were around. The song names from the "2nd demo" were actually a completed album by the name of "Burn The Witch". This was from Jerry, Mike and Bill, the original act. I used to have a cassette copy of it that Mike gave me, but it disappeared long ago. I'd love to hear it again if anyone has it.

DeleteIt's all there
My dad was in this band. Billy Bones.
ReplyDeleteThe thing listed as a "second demo" is not the other band. It's a full length album called "Burn The Witch". I knew Jerry, Billy and Mike back when they were getting ready to release that. I had a cassette copy, but it seems to have disappeared.
ReplyDeleteThis is all very confusing! If anyone from the band is reading this, please get in touch.
ReplyDeleteBilly Bones here, how can I help?
DeleteHey...This is Billy Bones. How can I clear up the confusion?
ReplyDeleteI can at least confirm Billy's story about the name of the band. I grew up with Jerry, and had seen him in a few bands. Seems like every band he was in, he'd find out later someone already was using that name. When Agatha Bones was formed, and I asked him where the name came from, he said that they just wanted a name no one else would want! Then someone else took the name. I can't remember if it was Jerry, or someone else told me the story about another band stealing the name.
ReplyDeleteBilly here...anyone that wants here our demo just google Agatha Bones. It’s all on YouTube. Thank y’all for lovin us so much; it made those years worthwhile!!!
